Father of Four Created Blood Pressure Tracker to Monitor his Own Blood Pressure
3000 Registered Users Later He Tackles Obesity

For 34-year-old Steve Sullivan visits to the cardiologist were a dreaded event. His blood pressure was routinely too high. Steve's doctor requested that Steve monitor his blood pressure between doctor visits.

Sullivan owned a monitor at home and checked his pressure at stores, but didn't have a good system for keeping track of his readings. After briefly reviewing the options for tracking and graphing one's blood pressure, Steve quickly realized that all of the current systems on the market were overly complex. Sullivan wanted something with a simple and straightforward user interface, thus he set out to create his own online application. Fortunately, Steve's expertise is in software development and in particular with Internet applications. Using this expertise, he began to spend his free time working on a personal website that he could use to track his blood pressure. He created a user-friendly way of entering his blood pressure and generating a report that he could take to his doctor. The software's ease of use motivates Steve to follow his doctor's advice to keep tabs on his blood pressure.

After sharing his invention with friends and family, Sullivan realized that there were many people who could benefit from his new application. Steve decided to open it to the public to help others track their blood pressure more easily. The user reaction has been tremendous. Steve has received numerous emails from new users raving about the application. One such email came from Pamela Murdock of Washington State:

I want to thank you for such a great website. It is fun, easy and very informative. I have to take my b/p several times a day; all I saw was a line of numbers. With this site I can see a graph. Believe me it puts a whole new spin on my numbers. I also believe that when I take the printed graph to my doctor it will make a huge difference. Thank you so much. -- Pamela Murdoch

Many requests for other tracking systems had been made by some of the thousands of registered users. One of the most common requests was for a weight tracking system. Steve answered these requests by creating Weight-Tracker.com which was released to the public in BETA form on July 2006.
