Examples of comments might be how much exercise you did or how many calories you took in that day.

First Ever Commercial for Weight-Tracker.com January 10th, 2010
I'm still looking for ways to get the word out about this site. I created this commercial and began airing it for the first time over the past few days. Look for it to air next Monday at 4:30pm on Discovery Health's "I Lost It!" and also on CNN Headline News 12AM to 5AM Monday morning.

Keys to Weight Loss January 9th, 2010
What are the keys to weight loss? From my experience the following items are key.
  • Stay busy - Keeping busy with work or a hobby will keep your mind off of what the next meal is and food in general. With this strategy the most difficult part for me is the time right before bed when I'm winding down for sleep. In addition to keeping busy performing strenuous exercise will initially suppress appetite in the short-run. This is a double win because the exercise also burns lots of calories. Several hours later after your body has recovered the appetite often kicks back in with a vengeance because of the increase in metabolism. Another observation that I've made is that the more TV I watch the more food I eat. Sometimes late at night when I should be sleeping.
  • Sleep - Eating can help keep you awake. This is useful on occasion but most of the time we would be better off going to bed early especially when the only reason for staying up is to watch television. One thing that helps is to drop caffeine completely. Caffeine disturbs sleeping patterns and isn't that hard to avoid. There are plenty of products available that are caffeine free. Much harder than finding a caffeine free substitute is to crack the addiction. It took me over a week to get over the irritability and uneasiness I had when I dropped caffeine completely.
  • Fill up on roughage and liquid - I eat old fashioned oatmeal in the morning which is high in fiber. I do this knowing that at least a third of my meals were high in fiber and take a little longer to digest. I like knowing that my meals will stick around for longer lasting energy. Then I go to work and stay busy until lunch time. During the workday I drink tons of water and caffeine free diet soft drinks. My favorite is Sprite Zero.
  • Set an exercise goal - It could be a 5k community walk/run, a marathon, or any thing else. Having the goal gives a solid purpose to your training. I'm training for a marathon. Since the date of the marathon is set, I'm forced to stay on schedule and put in the necessary training. After I meet my goal, I'll need to set another one. It could be another marathon or I could do a 100 mile bike ride. Pick anything that is of interest to you and continually train for the next thing. There are tons of activities to choose from.

User Email January 8th, 2010
Occasionally I get email from someone that uses the site and has ideas for improvements or wants to thank me for the site. Last year received correspondence from someone that had set a very high resolution of loosing 100lbs and throughout 2009 stuck to his goal and met it by year end. I've included a couple of his emails below.

Update from Brian who has Lost 103 lbs

June 27, 2009
Weight-Tracker.com has really helped me with a weight loss program that I started about 8 months ago! I've lost 84 pounds, with just a little more to go until hitting my goal of loosing 100 pounds in a year. When you get right down to it, everyone knows what you've got to do to lose weight - Eat healthy and exercise. Being able to enter my weight daily and track it on the graph keeps me in a nice routine and puts my progress right in front of me to look at. It has been a big help and I thank you for making this resource available to folks like me.
